Stop dreading the camera

Most candidates know they should be posting. They just hate watching themselves, don't know what to say, and end up with a feed that goes quiet in August. We fix that with reps, not theory — until filming yourself feels like nothing.

Who this is for

Two things have to be true

One

You're on a ballot — or about to be.

Candidate, incumbent, county chair, or the person who has to speak for an organization. This is built around a race with a date on it, not around growing a following.
Two

You've never liked watching yourself on video.

If you're already comfortable and posting daily, you don't need us. If you've recorded the same clip nine times and deleted all nine, that's exactly who this is for.
What changes

After a few weeks of this

One take, not nine

You film it, you watch it once, you post it. The hour you used to lose to re-recording goes back into the campaign.

You sound like yourself

Not like a press release being read aloud. The way you talk at a door is the way you talk on camera.

The feed keeps going

There's a plan for the week, so October doesn't arrive with three weeks of silence behind you.

You're ready for the hard one

The question you've been dreading has an answer you've already said out loud, on camera, more than once.

Two ways to do it

A course you work through, or a coach on the phone

01
Camera basics without the gear talkWhere to stand, where to look, what light to find, and how to shoot a usable clip on the phone already in your pocket.
02
The first ten secondsWhy most candidate videos lose people before the point arrives, and the three openings that don't.
03
Saying one thing wellTaking the message from your gameplan and turning it into something you can say in forty seconds without notes.
04
Handling the hard questionOn camera, at a door, at a forum. What to say when you don't know, and how not to repeat the attack.
05
A week of posting, plannedWhat actually goes out Monday through Sunday, so you're not inventing content at 10pm.
06
Reading the numbersThe three things worth checking, and the dozen that waste your evening.

Work through it at your own pace. Short lessons, each with one thing to go film afterward. Built for the two hours a week you actually have.

01
A working session, on cameraWe record you, watch it back together, and fix the two things that matter most. Not a lecture — reps.
02
Your feed, reviewedWe go through what you've posted, say what's working, and rewrite a few so you can see the difference.
03
Text us the clipBefore it goes out. You'll get an answer the same day, usually in minutes.
04
Before the big onesDebate, forum, endorsement interview — a call beforehand to get you ready and one afterward to debrief.
05
Your team tooWhoever's holding the phone gets trained alongside you, so the footage is usable when you're not the one filming.
06
All cycleIt doesn't end after a session. The coaching runs until the polls close.

A person, not a portal. Sessions with us plus somebody to text when you're sitting in the car about to hit record.

Who's teaching it

The people who shoot the commercials

The same team that writes, shoots and cuts Bluejack's video work runs the training. That matters more than it sounds: we're not teaching you a content framework we read about. We're teaching you what we've learned pointing a camera at candidates in this state and watching which takes actually got used.

We know what a usable clip looks like because we've had to cut around thousands of unusable ones. And we know what makes a candidate freeze on camera, because we've watched it happen in the room and worked out how to get them past it.

You're not being handed to a social media manager. You're working with the people who will be editing your ads.

From a client

“Great work and attention to detail. We're very pleased with the results… and allowing us to work within our budget.”

Before you ask

The three questions everyone has

How much time does this take?

The course runs about two hours a week including the filming you do afterward. Coaching is a session plus whatever you send us in between — some weeks that's one clip, some weeks it's ten.

Do I need equipment?

No. Your phone, decent daylight and a place to prop it. If you want to add a microphone later we'll tell you which one, but nothing in the training depends on buying anything.

Does anyone else see my practice videos?

Only us. Practice footage stays between you and your coach, and we don't use anything from a training session without asking you first.

Get comfortable on camera.

Tell us where you're starting from. We'll tell you which of the two makes sense, or if you need both.
